It's amazing, you know, that we chose the cross as our symbol. It most likely befuddled others to no end in the early days. Why in the world did they choose such an ugly, painful, shameful symbol we know as 'death' to represent hope, joy, victory, and life, of all things? That's the paradox, isn't it? That's faith. "The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen." Jesus, even in His weakest, more vulnerable moment, took the cup that was offered Him. The cup of death, and drank it as if it were life. And behold, even death itself has turned backwards.
